We know you’ve been wondering about the Red Line Club and the HWC/RLC cars. You’re important to us, and we want to fill you in on our plan to resolve the backorder status and for 2014 car offers.
Mattel sincerely apologizes for the delays you’ve experienced in receiving orders from the Hot Wheels collector site.We understand that you want to know why. The short answer is that, as we continue to evolve our manufacturing process, we’ve recently made changes within our production facilities which has resulted in unexpected delays in production and in some cases, impacted the quality of some of our collector vehicles. We’re aware of the problem and are working to address it.
So what are we doing about it now? Fortunately, we have a plan as follows:
Your 2014 Red Line Club memberships will be extended into 2015 until all 2014 items have been made available, which we anticipate to happen by the end of June 2015. In other words, you get about six months of membership at no additional cost.
All those mouth-watering 2014 items we’ve been sneaking to you? We’ll start to offer those toward the end of 2014 and through the first half of 2015. (And yes, there will still be a Rewards car, too.) Our aim is to seriously reduce backorder time.
We expect to be able to offer 2015 RLC memberships in summer of 2015. We’ve seen some early concepts of what the design team has planned for the 2015 Club and it looks amazing. The 2015 Club will run from the summer of 2015 through the summer of 2016 (12 months), so the club will still run on a yearly basis.
As an added “thank you” for your patience, we’ll award an extra 10 Rewards points to Chrome level members and an extra 5 Rewards points to Classic level members. Reward points will be issued to all 2014 Red Line Club members who are active members in good standing as of Sunday June 29th at 11:59pm. Your rewards account will be updated by the end of July.
Thanks for sticking with us as we tackle these production issues. We appreciate and value our collector community, and it’s our goal to keep the club fun and exciting.

HWC Van’s creative expertise was given an overwhelming vote of confidence in last week’s polls. The sELECTIONs ’77 Pontiac Firebird Funny Car will feature deco by designer Steve Vandervate!
Along with Van’s design, he will also choose appropriate tampo for the wheels — Dragstrip Demons five-spoke wheels on the front and slotted wheels on the rear. Wherever he takes this piece, we’re sure it will be one scorching hot sELECTIONs edition you will have to have for your Hot Wheels collection!
Note: The images shown are by no means final — they are meant to represent the winning combination of your votes. We will give you a better idea of how the final produced pieces will look when we offer it for sale later.
